How to tell your child

The true character of a society is revealed in how it treats its children

Nelson Mandela

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) –Abuse and neglect are defined as “injury, sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child”. This abuse can be of several kinds – physical, mental, emotional, psychological or in the form of neglect or exploitation. It brings about circumstances causing harm to a child’s health, welfare, and safety. Child abuse, in its various forms, can be found everywhere in the world – in cities and rural homes, in the homes of the rich and the poor, and in the streets and schools. Wiping out child abuse in India requires a complex strategy that will require multi-stakeholder support.

The Awareness programme makes realising that how the child abuse affecting the hierarchy of our future society and how we prevent it from the dept of darkness. Throughout the sessions leads us to:

How to recognise the abuse :

• Physical abuse

• Emotional abuse

• Sexual Abuse:

• Neglect

How to prevent and safe our children :

• Take a child sexual abuse prevention class yourself so you can have informed discussions with your peers, kids, and those who care for your children.

• Before placing your kid in the care of others ask if they and their staff have been trained on child sexual abuse prevention which is totally different from mandated reporter training.

• Routinely remind the kids you care for that they are in charge of their body and nobody is allowed to touch them if it feels icky, bad, or wrong and to tell you if it happens.

We believe that every child has a right to a safe childhood free of violence. Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention is an important time to start the conversation in our communities about how we can keep our children safe. By rallying our neighbours, business, schools, friends and families, we can make a difference in the lives of children across the country. By promoting safety, awareness and dialogue, we can prevent abuse from happening in the first place and help keep our children safe

To leverage a platform for bringing awareness on “Prevention of Child Abuse” organizations are most suited. As an individual we all know about child abuse but the information what we have is so incomplete and in pieces and we are really not focused on pursuing it unless such sessions are conducted by the organization or NGO’s or any other institutes. Hence if organizations take this call of bringing awareness on “Prevention of Child Abuse” under their CSR or Employee Welfare program then a large number of people will be benefited and the right and complete communication will be circulated to bring awareness on prevention of child abuse and through employees the awareness will be spread to their relatives, friends and loved once which in turn spontaneously create awareness on a larger scale.”
